Akkad chat ("we", "us", "our") is a customer-conversation platform operated by Akkad, accessible at https://chat.akkad.io. It allows our support team to receive and respond to messages that customers send to our official Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts, and through other connected communication channels. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and the rights you have over it.

1. Data we collect

When you contact us through one of our connected channels (Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct, web chat, or email), we process:

• Message content — the text, images, and attachments you send us, and our replies;
• Public profile information provided by the messaging platform — such as your name, username, profile picture, and platform user ID;
• Conversation metadata — timestamps, delivery and read status, and the channel the conversation arrived from;
• Contact details you choose to share — for example an email address or phone number you send us so we can follow up.

We do not collect data from your device, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not use advertising cookies. Cookies on chat.akkad.io are strictly limited to those required for our support agents to sign in and operate the service.

2. How we use the data

• To receive, display, and respond to your messages — i.e. to provide customer service;
• To keep the history of a conversation so we do not ask you to repeat yourself;
• To organise, assign, and improve the quality of our customer support;
• To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing. We do not use message content for advertising.

3. Data received from Meta Platforms

When you message one of our Facebook Pages or Instagram accounts, Meta Platforms, Inc. transmits your message and associated public profile information to us through its Messenger and Instagram messaging APIs. We process this data solely to conduct the conversation you initiated. Our use of data received from Meta complies with the Meta Platform Terms and applicable developer policies. Your use of Facebook and Instagram themselves remains governed by Meta's own privacy policy.

4. Where the data is stored

Conversation data is stored on servers we operate in the European Union (Hetzner Online GmbH data centres, Germany). Access is restricted to authorised members of our support and administration team, protected by authentication and encrypted (TLS) connections.

5. How long we keep it

We retain conversation history for as long as it is needed to provide ongoing customer service. If you ask us to delete your data (see below), we remove it within 30 days unless we are legally required to retain specific records.

6. Your rights

You may at any time request:

• a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• correction of inaccurate data;
• deletion of your data (see our data deletion instructions);
• that we stop processing your data, subject to legal obligations.

7. Children

Our services are directed at general audiences and are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
